Metropolitan Costume Institute’s Gala 2010: said to “prom night for fashionistas,” is a huge success!

As the museum in partnership, with Vogue and The Gap, opened their exhibit “American Women: Fashioning a National Identity” many well-known fashionable women from all around the world walked the red carpet looking fabulous and showing us this even was no less than Prom-worthy!  Monday night’s Met costume institute gala raised $9 million and over 725 guests attended the new exhibit. Last years gala celebrating “The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion,” raised only $5.4 million.

Although many women dawned classic, beautiful looks like I have already posted, there were  still those that chose to represent the art through their attire by wearing gowns that were more on the fun and funky side through their many intricate hand-made details and unique colors.  More of these fashionable women and their gowns on Huffington Post or E online!

Chloe Sevigny wore a Proenza Schouler dress to the met, was it a hit or miss? On the upside the color looked great on her and the detail of the hand-stitched lace was amazing, but  with the dresses open back dawning a bra, rather than skin as well as the revealing see-through front, I would have to say this dress was an overall miss.

Another star, Blake Lively, who decided to go for a more fun and funky look as well I think rocked it in a royal blue micro-mini dress by Marchesa. Her gorgeous gams looked long and lean and I loved the fact that she wore her hair all back and so simple.  With a dress that has a lot going on like hers does with its many ruffles and faux flowers the hair, accessories, makeup, it all needs to remain simplistic.  Therefore Blake Lively pulled it off and looks stunning! Other blogs have made it clear they think otherwise about Lively’s choice, but I disagree.  Yes it is true she continues to choose rather revealing and more sexy style gowns, but at the end of the day she looks great them and really plays up the gown by looking amazing in it and pairing it with minimal accessories, therefore what is the problem?

Sienna Miller is another example of a star who always tries new things when it comes to fashion and never plays it safe on the red carpet.  I think she looked beautiful in Emilio Pucci, I absolutely love black and midnight blue combine together in clothing, the color combination is so fresh for night time, yet the effortlessly beautiful stare was still not the winner of style for the night in my book.

The ladies who won me over on the red carpet could not be anybody but those who chose the combination of wearing an over the top gown that resembled old hollywood in all its elegance, as well as still being completely up-to-date with this season’s trend of flesh-tone colored fabrics covered in silk, sequins and/or rhinestones.  The ladies graced the red carpet with the perfect combination of glamour, poise and feminine accents! They were definitely the winners of the night, that is saying (Camilla Belle is still included, even though she wore red!)

Jessica Alba in Sophie Theallet

Emilie De Ravin in Valentino

Carolyn Murphy

Kate Bosworth in Valentino

Alessandra Ambrosio

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Anna Wintour in Chanel

Marion Cotillard in Christian Dior Couture

Sarah Jessica Parker in Halston Heritage

Anne Hathaway in Valentino

Gwen Stefani in L.A.M.B.

Jennifer Lopez was my #1 favorite in Zuhair Murad

Overall everyone looked beautiful and unique in the own way and by their own choice.  I am just a sucker for the crystal or shiny nude gowns right now.

Even “Access Hollywood” agrees with me:

Runway to Ready-Wear!

Hey bloggers my name is Hayley Jerri and I am here to give you fashion forward advice on how to take any season’s biggest trend in the fashion shows from the runway to the streets.  I am sure that most of you out there are probably wondering why you should take my advice; well I have worked at Nordstrom in the San Diego Fashion Valley Mall as a sales associate in the Individualist department for over a year now.  Every week I continue to see the trends that come in and out of the market along with different types of women trying on these styles.  I can tell you what works for whom and what does not, along with how to make even the edgiest trend look classic and cool.  Along with my job, I completely obsess over the fashion world from day to-night doing my best to keep up with the newest season’s trends and styles by watching the fashion shows and reading our favorite magazines like Marie Claire, Glamour, Elle, InStyle, Vogue, and so many more!

My blog page is here for you to take a break from your busy world by getting the chance to dive into a whole other world of clothes, accessories, trends, brand names, different looks, designer collections and anything else that I can offer to you from the world of fashion through pictures and writing.  By reading my blog daily, you will see how you are able to dress stylish and trend-savvy, but still look classy and chic all at the same time!  I will show my readers how to find the perfect looks for each trend through many ensembles that anyone can create.  I will be researching online, magazines, television and more to give all you fashion bloggers out there with the tools you need to wear runway style in your everyday life!  I will also do my best to let you all know what stores you can shop at to find all the latest trends, what editions of the magazines have great tips,  and what stars to watch for when following their style.

I believe fashion is more than just being stylish by wearing designer names or trendy clothes, it is about the creativity and innovative thought that fashion’s biggest designers had while making their collections for that particular season.  For us to dress fashion forward, we have to be able to recreate these runway looks by mix and matching the classic, trendy, and cool pieces available and affordable to us in our daily lives.  Although, we may not all be able to wear real runway clothing and couture, we can all still wear runway style and that is what I am going to prove to you through my blog.  Because the looks we continue to see on the runway are so expressive and beautifully thought-out, I strongly believe that anyone and everyone will want to live their lives in style-savvy looks like these! I hope you all enjoy and any questions, feedback, or comments are more than welcome!!!
