Dakota Fanning Rocks the Nude…

Once again another celeb star who is growing in age and beauty proves she will be a tipple-threat and one to keep our eyes out for as far as style choice!  She wears this nude number by Elie Saab gorgeously proving yet again nude is so the way to go this spring for a mysteriously sexy and sultry look!

I love it and will make the bold prediction that there are going to be many more nude looks to come from many others out there, as well as many more gorgeous looks like this one from Dakota Fanning.

Academy Award’s Nude Starlets:

So I already said how nude is this spring’s color… and yet again starlets proved it at this year’s 2010 Academy Awards.  Every woman displayed some version of nude whether it have a silver, gold, pink or any other tone in the nude family these Hollywood gals displayed beauty and poise at the Oscars!

Anna Kendrick a newcomer who starred in "Up In The Air," some may better know her from "Twilight" dawned Elie Saab at this year's Osacrs

I love the elegant draping of this dress along with the subtle fabric and color. I especially adore the lace detail at the dresses slit in front.

The detail on the back of this Elie Saab dress is my favorite part about it... there is something about button detailing on a dress that I love. I once went to a wedding where the bride wore a gorgeous, ivory dress that just beautifully skimmed her curves perfectly and all along her backside in the middle from the top to the bottom was a button detail just like this, I loved it!

Miley Cyrus flaunted her own version of Cinderella in a gown by Jenny Packham

I have to admit I was very surprised with Cyrus' choice... the dress is perfect for her in my opinion. The cut, color, and detail of this dress are all very much in style, trend-savvy and just down right gorgeous for her. The subtle sparkle detail and the tulle skirt mixed with the fitted, satin bodice give it both enough edge and glamour without going overboard and still allowing her to look young and youthful!

Now if only she could shake that slouch or maybe barrow someone else's stance for the evening. I can't tell if the dress is to tight around her waist or up top in the dress and therefore does not fit well or if it is just the way she is standing.

Demi Moore looked beautiful and as usual not showing her age at all while wearing a gown by Atelier Versache.

This one is my favorite out of all the nude dresses, it is very different and unique in its own way without being over-the-top and too much. Props to Demi!!

The way the dress moves when she walks is so perfect in all its elegance that you can tell this was hand-crafted and that each tier of ruffles lays nicely over the other without adding bulk to the bottom half of the figure.

Kate Winslet looked stunning as usual in Atelier Yves Saint Laurent

I know that many others found this dress boring, which I disagree with completely! Some made that statement when comparing it to her dresses in the past, which is legitimate, but I still don't think boring is the correct word. If you are comparing this with one Winslet's dresses at the Oscars in the past then the only thing you will find that you are able to say is different. At the end of the day less is more and Kate Winslet proves that statement in this dress!

This dress of course is more on the silver and gold side of the nude family, but still very subtle in color and more bold in its embellishment, which I would love to see in person. This cut is very cinderella and I love how Cameron Diaz added her own spunky personality by wearing red/pink lipstick and her hair down in voluptuous waves!

Sandra Bullock channeled old hollywood glamour in sleek straight hair with a slight curl towards the bottom, a slight twist from the usual red lipstick in more of pink shade and a beautiful lace and sequins embellished Marchesa gown.

Diane Kruger uses the dress' nude color to really make all the different detail and black accents on her gown really pop and get notice by the eye. I think she looks lovely in this Chanel Couture number.

Academy Awards – Fashion Risk Takers

The 2010 Academy Awards were anything, but predictable when it came to fashion especially for some of my favorite actresses who chose to step out on that big, long red carpet in gowns that shocked us all, but left me in awe at the end of the event.  I’ll start with Maggie Gyllenhal and Rachel McAdams who both chose to set themselves apart from the carpet and their fellow actresses in beautiful, eye-catching floral gowns, that screamed summer beauty for the both of them.  Gyllenhal chose a Dries Van Noten satin, high-color impact gown from his most recent 2010 spring collection, which I love because it is full of so much pattern and high-detailed accents all of which really bring each piece of the collection to life.  And the Dries Van Noten number did just that for Gyllenhaal; it brought she and those gorgeous green eyes to life thus drawing in all our eyes!  McAdams chose a strapless Elie Saab gown, more subtle in color than Gyllenhal’s, but still just as beautiful.  The dress was perfect for Rachel McAdams because the dresses shape really showed her romantic side, while still grabbing all of our attention as the long-floral train continued to flow down the carpet.  Props to both of them for choosing to go a different route than the others!

This picture right here proves Rachel McAdam’s gown was so worth the risk, she looks absolutely gorgeous and gets my vote for *Best Dressed*

The last risk taker, Zoe Saldana, has been on my best dressed list for all the award shows this season, but last night’s choice has left me frazzled and has yet to really win my vote.  I will not deprive her the compliment that she looked beautiful, but at the same time there is rarely a moment when she doesn’t, therefore I am not sure the gown really did anything to accentuate her beauty.  Although I found the Givenchy number she chose a bit too overpowering as far as the bottom ruffle and different color hue detail, Saldana is so tall and lengthy that I found she was able hold her own in this dress without getting lost.  But overall, the top half of the dress and the bottom half of the dress looked as if two different designers made them and then eventually put them together, doing their best to make it work somehow.  I absolutely love the gown’s nude, rhinestone, bodice being held up by its modern, wide belt.  And I will not lie, I do enjoy the bottom’s dramatic and innovative flair, but at the end of examining the dress as a whole I just don’t necessarily like them together.  When it comes to fashion, I am very much a “less is more” kind of stylist and I also like to see a sense of monochromatic to a garment, especially in a gown.  When or if there is a big accent or detail drawing the eye in i.e. the ruffled, ombre bottom and/or the rhinestone bodice of this Givenchy dress it is best to let one or the other play its own role and the rest of the gown kind of fall into simplicity.  Overall I will compliment Saldana for her powerful risk because I know many other people can honestly say the loved the gown and I of course am still thinking about it, therefore she caught all our attentions!

How to get Rachel Bilson’s look

After seeing many of my comments and agreeing with you all that Rachel Bilson does have excellent style.  I am not going to lie I do try to emulate her looks day after day as well, which is why I found this you-tube video enlightening as well as fun and interesting.  Take a look!

Designer’s Spring 2010 Nude Collections

It was amazing to find how many famous designers came out with gorgeously detailed-nude looks for this coming spring.  Like I was saying before, the nude look is definitely one of spring’s top 5 must have looks, because it is so easy, yet so mysterious and sexy!  It leaves just enough to the imagination, while one can still be completely covered.  Some of my favorite designers like 3.1 Phillip Lim, Calvin Klein, Fendi, and Burberry all proved that nude ensembles will be doing most of the talking for us this spring!

Spring’s Top Five Must Have Looks: #2

So I was at work the other day and due to this slow time of year, I was shopping, and not selling.  Sometimes this can come as an advantage to me or vise-versa.  Fortunately, it ended in my favor when I saw that the “TBD” department @ NORDSTROM got this amazing new blazer by one of its own vendors known as “Hinge.”  This blazer is to die for in so many ways; the main reason being that it has all the necessities a spring piece should have!  It is the perfect shape and form of a menswear, double-breasted blazer, without looking boxy, short or unflattering on the figure.  It is available in two different colors: black and nude.  That brings me to my next fabulous point about this piece: I’m sure that by this time most of us already own a black, boyfriend blazer of which we love, but I believe few of us own that one great, nude blazer.  This “Hinge” blazer is the piece to buy in its nude color being that “nude” is the color of the season.  When I saw this blazer, better yet when I put on this blazer and its silk fabric laid just right, pairing perfectly with a top and jeans I happened to have on for work that day, I knew I needed to have it right then and there and eventually blog all about it!  This blazer is gorgeous and so easy to throw on when completing any look and what better way to sport one of spring’s biggest trends than by wearing a perfectly fitting, only $98, silk, nude blazer found at NORDSTROM.

You see there is something so very mysteriously sexy and subtle about mixing and matching all the beige you own in your closet.  The nude color is so flattering on the eye this spring that it will literally do the talking for you.  All that is left for you is walking, while letting each piece you are wearing come to life and really work its magic on your body.  This look has been done in so many ways and like I said before a blazer like the one by “Hinge” can really complete any ensemble you have created around this trend.

My only advice of caution would be to make sure that each garment you choose to wear really in the nude color family fits you nicely and has some degree of hanging appeal.  When I say hanging appeal, I mean make sure it is loose in the right areas.  Lets face it we don’t all have model bodies, therefore some garments in beige tend to show all the good, but all the bad as well.  Thus,  if the garment is not made well or just does not fit there will be consequences.  Although, if you do have basic nude pieces that skim your curves without clinging, you can really rock the nude look anywhere, anytime! This is definitely one runway look that can go from the catwalk to the streets 24/7!
